Xuyuan (Ellen) is a fourth year graduate student in the Geosciences department at Princeton. She received her B.S. in Environmental Science from University of Science and Technology of China. Xuyuan is interested in the interaction between ocean biogeochemical cycles and climate. She is currently working on interpreting nitrogen isotopic signals of organic matter preserved in diatom frustules in the Southern Ocean sediments to look into the surface nutrient conditions in the Southern Ocean during glacial/interglacial cycles and how they affected/were affected by climate.
